This guide covers what you can and cannot put in a roll-off dumpster. It applies across our whole service area; a few items carry local variations, which are noted below. If you are unsure about a specific load, call 267-394-7733 before your delivery date.
Accepted Materials
These go in a standard mixed container without any special handling:
- General household junk and furniture
- Construction and demolition debris
- Timber, drywall and plaster
- Metal and scrap
- Yard waste, branches and landscaping debris
- Cardboard, packaging and general non-hazardous waste
Heavy Material — Dedicated Container Only
Concrete, brick, block, stone, dirt, asphalt and other heavy debris are accepted, but they need a container of their own rather than going in with a mixed load. Dense material reaches the weight allowance long before it fills the box, so mention it when booking and we will send the right size.
Prohibited Items
These cannot go in any container, for safety and regulatory reasons:
Hazardous Materials
- Medical waste
- Asbestos-containing materials
- Flammable substances
- Chemicals, explosives, propane tanks and aerosol cans
- Radioactive material
- Oil filters
- Paint (unless latex and fully dried)
- Contaminated soil
Electronics and Appliances
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Dehumidifiers, microwaves, TVs and monitors
- Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners (anything containing refrigerant)
Items With Special Handling or Fees
- Tires — prohibited from landfill under EPA rules
- Mattresses and box springs — may carry an additional fee of around $40 each, depending on location
- Bamboo
Local Variations
Prohibited items and disposal fees vary with the policies of the receiving landfill or transfer station, which differ by county. The lists above hold in most areas, but confirm anything unusual with us before delivery so there are no surprises at pickup.
